Description

The original Dog Scratch Pad, as seen on Facebook and TikTok.

Trimming your dog’s nails doesn’t have to be hard. This VET Recommended - Dog Scratch Pad makes it easy and fun. Tough design for strong scratchers and a built-in treat box for rewards. Easy to clean and great for all breeds, it’s a simple way to keep your dog happy and paws clean.

How Long Does It Take To See Results?

Most dogs will show noticeable results after a few sessions. The time depends on how often your dog uses the scratch pad and how long their nails are to begin with.

For best results, we recommend short, regular sessions of 2-3 minutes, a few times a week. Over time, consistent use helps maintain a smooth and healthy nail length without the need for clippers.

How Does It Do Their Back Claws?

Great question!

Try this trick for back paws—place the scratch pad at an incline (against a step or wall) and lure your dog to step up with their front paws. As they shift weight, their back paws will naturally make contact with the pad.

Another method is the 'kick-back reflex'—place the pad behind your dog and lightly touch their back leg. Most dogs will instinctively kick back, filing their nails in the process!

With some treats and praise, they’ll get the hang of it quickly! Let us know how you go and if you have any further questions. We're more than happy to help :)

Laying Flat or Standing Up?

We've heard from customers that their dogs love using the scratch pad flat on the floor—it’s easier for them to explore and trim their nails naturally. With that said, putting the pad against any surface or on an angle can also work. You might see that your dog would find it new and interesting from a different setting!

P.S. We're working on a standing version, which will be in stock soon. Stay tuned!

    Recommended!

"I'd say it’s a handy tool for regular nail care. My dog stays calm, and it’s much less hassle compared to our usual routine. Try 2-3 short 5-minute sessions a day, allowing them time to get the hang of it and you'll be surprise. Highly recommended!"

    Worth Trying

“It takes some training but not much. We were having so much trouble cutting our dogs nails. She hates us touching her front paws and always pulls away (even peanut butter wouldn’t keep her still!). We decided to purchase this product and is awesome. We trained her to scratch for small treats which took two sessions of training for about 15 minutes, then kept doing a little a day for about a week and her paws look great. “

    Finally!!!

“So I've seen these dog nail scratch boards for about a year, and I don't know why I hesitated to buy it! My rescue cattle dog has only one thing she freaks out over and it's nail trims. I've had her for about almost 2 years, and for the first year, I thought we were making progress, less panicky, and wouldn't try biting as much... But for some reason, she's regressed and getting worse to where I tried trazadone, which helps for her vet visits, but it made no difference. So FINALLY ordered this board and watched a Facebook or Instagram video on how someone’s dog uses it, and I tried the same thing. She's super treat motivated, but she took to it in 2 sessions and after less than a week her front nails are the smoothest and shortest they've ever been!!! I'm thrilled!!! Now all I need to trim are her back paw nails which weren't the worst to do... Still very excited!!

    It's pawesome!

"Mary hates to have her nails trimmed, and she's scared to visit the vet. Since we got this scratch pad, getting her nails trimmed and polished has been so easy. She loves the small tricks and treats as well. Highly recommended for anyone who has pups that are afraid of nail trimming. You’ll love it!”

    A Little A Day

“Much to our surprise, we were easily able to train our dog to “scratch” simply by mimicking the motion and giving him treats. His front nails are now a good length- and his back ones seem to stay short enough by themselves from our regular walks/hikes.”

    Suzzanne P.

  • ★★★★★

    Love this!

"Milo loves this—he likes the stimulation from trying to get to the treats inside and I'm so happy to see that his front claws are filed. Once he gets the hang of it for the front, I’ll work on training the back legs. This just makes nail trimming so much easier!"

    Michelle J. (✔)

  • ★★★★★

    Practical

"The treat box keeps my pup interested just long enough to file her nails. It’s not magic, but it’s made grooming way more manageable for us."

    Mia N.

  • ★★★★★

    Impressive

“I wasn’t sure how this would work but I’m really impressed. Took my Loki about 5 minutes to get the hang of it. It literally took 15 minutes to get Loki’s nails filed down. Once they get the hang of it for the front, I’ll work on training the back legs.”

    Fun Way To Trim!

"My dog is very nervous about nail trimmers so the Vet recommended this product. It works and my dog enjoyed figuring it out. She thinks it’s a fun game, and I love not having to deal with clippers anymore. I would recommend this as it filed her claws down effectively and it didn’t cause her any stress."

"It’s been helpful for keeping my dog’s nails in check without the stress of clippers. The treat box is a nice bonus to keep her focused."

    Amazing!

"My cat, Daisy, is super picky, but she loves this pad—it’s gentle and works for cat too!"

    Job Done!

"The pad does the job well enough, and it’s easy to clean. My dog seems to enjoy it more than I expected."

    Luv it!

"Bella was nervous at first, I guess because it is new to her. But now she comes running every time. It's her new favourite."

    Olivia H. (✔)

    My Pups Love It!

“I can’t believe I waited so long to get one of these! My two pups are terrified of nail trims and it’s a stressful experience for all of us. But turn it into a game and they do their own nail maintenance daily now! We haven’t tried back paws yet but thankfully they don’t mind that with the clippers as much. And usually with walks the back ones get filed down!”

    Be Persistent

I was feeling stuck about trimming my dogs nails. They were very long. After a few tries she figured it out and now she has short nails. It’s great and I’m so excited to see her using it more!

Questions? We've Got You Covered

How Do I Train My Dog To Use The Scratch Pad?

Start by placing a few treats inside the built-in treat box to grab your dog’s attention. When they paw at the surface, immediately reward them with praise or another treat. Keep training sessions short and positive, around 2-3 minutes at a time.

Most dogs learn within a few sessions, and once they get the hang of it, it becomes a fun and effortless part of their routine.

Can I Use This For My Dog’s Back Claws?

Try these tricks for back paws:
- Place the scratch pad at an incline (against a step or wall) and lure your dog to step up with their front paws. As they shift weight, their back paws will naturally make contact with the pad.
- Another method is the 'kick-back reflex'—place the pad behind your dog and lightly touch their back leg. Most dogs will instinctively kick back, filing their nails in the process!

With some treats and praise, they’ll get the hang of it quickly!

Will My Dog Actually Use It? What If They Don’t?

Many dogs are hesitant at first, but they quickly learn with positive reinforcement. The built-in treat box is designed to encourage scratching, making the process engaging and rewarding. If your dog is unsure, try demonstrating by lightly scratching the surface yourself or guiding their paw. With a little patience and encouragement, most dogs pick it up quickly.

Pro Tip: Some of our customers are kind enough to share videos of their dogs trying this scratch pad for the first time. You can find it in the product page ;)

What If My Dog Chews Or Bites The Scratch Pad?

If your dog starts biting the pad, redirect their focus to the treat box and encourage them to scratch instead. Supervised training helps reinforce the desired behaviour. If chewing continues, try using higher-value treats or placing the pad in a different position to make it more engaging for scratching rather than biting.

Also, a sandpaper replacement option is always there when you need it (please visit our Homepage for more information ;). Keep trying and you've got this!

How Do I Clean The Scratch Pad?

Keeping the scratch pad clean is easy. Simply wipe it with a damp cloth or use a soft brush to remove any dust and nail debris. Just like a nail trimmer that we use, regular cleaning helps maintain the surface and make sure the pad stays effective for longer use.

*Why Is My Order Taking Longer Than Usual?

If your order was placed within this timeframe, please allow a few extra days for tracking updates. We appreciate your patience and promise it’ll be worth the wait! If you have any concerns, feel free to contact us—we’re happy to help!
